project description: this project explores the colour red by means of danger and obsession. The device explores the tale of a coroner who has an obsession with a dead woman. His whole journey is documented in the coroner's box, where files open up to reveal pop up chapters of his fantasies, narrating a spooky story of a twisted romance...
Some snapshots of the stories told within the coroner's box:
- having 'dinner' with the corpse in a surgery room, using scalpels and other medical equipment
- marrying the lady in a hearse rather then a wedding car, accompanied by crows rather then pigeons
- replacing wedding rings with body tags
- the bride was bought into the church horizontally
It might sound twisted, but the project simply explores how a twist in a usual story of marriage (marring a dead person rather then one who is alive) entirely reconfigures every single detail of the ritual, making it an entirely unique experience.
This idea was retained architecturally in the final project.
